On the weekend of February 8th, was the occasion of the Gliders’ Invitational 2014. The meet consisted of, in total, 702 gymnasts representing over 40 teams competing Levels 3 to 10. Wildfire Gymnastics entered 25 All Around athletes comprising teams at Levels 7, 8, 9 and 10. By the culminating session on Sunday afternoon, Wildfire fared well as eventual Level 7, 8 and 10 team champions. Our Level 9’s finished 2nd. And culminating, an ancillary award was presented to Wildfire Gymnastics in recognition for the best overall combined performance by a team, that being the Glider Invite “Super Team” award of 2014.

Of Wildfire’s 25 All Around entrants, 23 of them placed no lower than 6th AA. Fifteen were top three finishers out of which came 6 All Around gold medalists.

2013 Level 10 J.O. National AA Champion Madison Stover, scoring a 37.775 (1st Bars, 1st Beam), won the 2014 Glider Invitational Level 10 Senior All Around Championship. This ranked her as the second leading Level 10 scoring gymnast of the entire meet of 51 Level 10 gymnasts. First year Level 10 Erin Weisel won her first All Around championship of the season. Winning her age division (Child) she completed her remarkable experience by ranking 5th overall of that number of 51 respective level athletes, which then includes all age groups and divisions.

Seventy-eight Level 9 gymnasts, in all, were on hand to compete in hopes to generate their best possible results. Placing 2nd All Around in the Child division was 2013 Level 8 State AA Champion, Emily Lopez, she ranking 3rd overall among the 78 total. 2013 Level 8 Region 1 AA runner up, Lindsey Riggs, maintained her top two AA finishing winning ways this 2014 season by means of her second silver medal performance of the year.

Seven Wildfire gymnasts competed for Level 8 honors. Of the 105 total Level 8 entrants that competed spanning the entire competition weekend, more than 50% of the seven entered Wildfire girls ranked among the top seven, three listed no less than forth overall including a first. Session competition comprised of four age groups, and Wildfire gymnasts won three of them. Tessa Watkins, the highest scoring Level 8 of the meet won the Child division with a 37.975 (1st Bars - 9.6, 1st Floor), as did Logan McBain (Junior 2 All Around Champion (37.725, 1st Bars - 9.725, 1st Floor - 9.625) and as well as did Senior division’s Madison McIntyre (1st AA, Vault and Floor).

Seven Wildfire Level 7 gymnasts competed from which five of them placed 3rd AA or better. Jiana Reeves, 1st ranked ultimately among the 131 competing Level 7’s, in turn, as a Junior 2, won her session with a 37.80 All Around total (1st Vault, 1st Bars). Bailey Nicoletti - Junior 1 (1st Vault and Floor) and Madison Wong - Junior 2 (1st Beam and Floor) ended their day each collecting well earned 2nd place AA silver medal awards.
