Level 7 Regionals, the culminating Level 7 event of the year, was a three day affair hosted in Tucson, AZ on the weekend of April 25th. There were 534 gymnasts from SoCal, NorCal, Arizona, Utah and Nevada, they together representing 130 teams. Wildfire Gymnastics qualified nine Level 7 gymnasts to Regionals this year and from these nine, by the end, five were All Around Champions. Seven of them placed among the top three and none ranked below 6th!

Wildfire Level 7 athletes finished the competition with the most AA Championships. Numbering five, this would prove to be more than any team of the 130 teams representing Region 1. At the close of the 2014 Level 8, 9, and 10 Regional Championships two weeks before, Wildfire gymnasts accumulated the leading number of All Around wins there as well, that being four. Combined, Wildfire now with nine, has more Regional All Around Champions in 2014 than any other team representing Region 1. In fact, Wildfire has the sole distinction of being the only team from Region 1 to have at least one Regional AA Champion at Levels 7, 8, 9 and 10!

Wildfire All Around winners - Senior A, Madison Wong and Junior J, Katie Wallace, each posted AA scores ranking them among the top 4 of those from the 534 gymnasts competing. Madison, by the way, won each event en route to her achievement as Wildfire’s leading gymnast of the day. Her Beam score of 9.80 was the second highest of the entire competition while her Floor at 9.75 was the highest. 2014 SoCal Level 7 State All Around Champion Katie Wallace won Regionals as well with individual event highlights including a Gold for Floor (9.675) and two Silvers, one each for Bars (9.725) and Beam (9.650).

Three more 2014 Region 1 Level 7 All Around Champions include, Junior I - Jiana Reeves (1st AA - 38.200, 1st Bars - 9.650), Junior B - Bailey Nicoletti (1st AA - 38.175, 1st Vault - 9.625), 2013 SoCal Level 5 AA Champion and now 2014 Senior E Region 1 AA Champion - Morgan Langseth (1st AA - 38.00, 1st Vault - 9.60, 1st Beam - 9.50).

Most outstanding All Around showings were the standard this weekend. This fact was supported, for example, by the work of 2nd place AA Runner Up and Regional Bars Champion Lauryn Simons (2nd AA - 38.025, 1st Bars - 9.775!). Lauryn’s effort became the component to a Wildfire Junior G age group, 1st place/ 2nd place sweep. Isabella Gio closed out her 2014 competitive experience as one the Wildfire top three All Around finishers of the meet with a steady, consistent AA performance.

And finally, congratulations to those Wildfire gymnasts who culminated their 2014 Level 7 season as Regional Champions. Those athletes would include 5th place All Around finisher and Region 1 Child B - Bar Champion - Amanda Obergfell (9.550) along with 6th Place AA and Child G, Region 1 Beam Champion - Aurora Huxman (9.700).
