Wildfire Gymnastics took on a travel trip to New York City on January 26th, competing for the second time at the Manhattan Classic. 2,726 entrants completed the roster of gymnasts representing every USAG level from 3 to 10. The number of teams enrolled were over 100 in number.

Finishing with a team event average of 9.45, team Wildfire - Level 7, became 2014 Manhattan Classic Team Champions. Of 341 Level 7 gymnasts competing including every age group and session, Junior A - All Around Champion (37.875, 1st Bars - 9.75, 1st Beam) Aurora Huxman ranked 3rd among all of them, 1st of the 51 in her session. Finishing as part of the top three inside of that group of 51 gymnasts were Junior A - 2nd place AA Champion Amanda Obergfell (1st Vault - 9.50, 1st Floor - 9.625) and Jr B All Around winner, Bailey Nicolette (1st AA, 1st Vault - 9.60, 1st Floor - 9.50). Five Wildfire athletes placed among the top 6 of that list of 51. They include Senior A - AA Champion Isabella Ghio and Senior A - All Around runner up Madison Wong.

Team Level 8 ended their New York meet experience as 2014 Manhattan Classic runner ups accounting for a 9.45 team event average. 307 Level 8 gymnasts competed during the three day affair out of which two Wildfire gymnasts ranked among the top 6, respectively 3rd (Tessa Watkins) and 6th (Logan McBain). Tessa, the highest scoring gymnast of her session, emerged as the Junior age group All Around Champion 37.900 (1st Vault, 1st Bars - 9.950!!). Teammate Logan McBain, by the end, became the Senior Division AA Champion (1st Bars - 9.90!!!, 1st Beam).

The number of gymnasts competing at Level 9 was 189 including all age groups and individual sessions. First among them was Wildfire’s Emily Lopez, she winning Bars and Beam in the process. Another standout performance of the weekend would be from 2013 - 2014 J.O. National Team Member, Maddy Stover. From a collective total of 186 Level 10 athletes participating at this year’s Manhattan Classic, Maddy ranked 2nd among them all.
