The OC Classic was Wildfire’s optional season opener for 2014, the three day event being held on the weekend of 12 January. 653 gymnasts participated, representing some 45 teams. Twenty gymnasts competed All Around for Wildfire from which by the end, 15 ranked among the top four AA, 12 of them winning either AA Gold or Silver. Wildfire gymnasts accumulated also, 46 top three individual event awards 22 of them being Gold. That brought the total number of 1st place individual awards to 34. By the culminating event, Wildfire Gymnastics became in 2014: Level 7, 8 and 10 OC Classic Team Champions.

With a 9.3 first meet average, Wildfire’s Level 10 program won the 2014 OC Classic Team Championship, defending their last year’s 1st place finish. A total roster of 46 Level 10 gymnasts were on hand to compete for honors. Wildfire gymnast Maddy Stover (University of Utah, Fall of 2014) ranked 1st among them scoring a 37.70 (1st Vault, Bars and Beam). Maddy is the 2013 USAG J.O. National AA Champion. 2013 J.O. National Championships qualifier and now 2014 OC Classic Jr A division All Around Champion, Nico Koulos (1st Vault, Bars and Floor), ranked 3rd among that total 46 Level 10’s competing. This would include all sessions and age groups in three days of competition. Finishing with a strong 2nd AA performance was JR A division Karli Houghton, she completing her meet ranked 4th of 46 Level 10 entrances.

The Level 9 competition included 62 gymnasts in total. First place among them all was Wildfire’s Emily Lopez, winning in that course the Jr A division All Around with a 37.55 (2nd Vault, 1st Bars, Beam and Floor - 9.60). Ranking 5th as part of that 62 was the current OC Classic Level 9 Sr A division All Around Champion Lindsay Riggs.

This initial meet for Wildfire’s Level 8 team of 2014, had them finishing out with a team win, they averaging a 9.4 to do it. Of the 87 total Level 8 gymnasts participating throughout the weekend including all sessions and age groups, four Wildfire gymnasts ranked as part among the top seven. First in that group was All Around Champion Alison Rannalli (37.55, 1st Vault - 9.575) and 2nd place following was Logan McBain (37.500, 1st Beam - 9.4). Included in that top seven were also Jr. B division’s Lanie Kimura (2nd AA, 1st Vault) and Jr A competitor Tessa Watkins (2nd AA, 1st Vault and Beam).

Session 1 All Around winner Aurora Huxman, (1st Bars and Floor), 2nd AA Madison Wong (1st Floor) and Jiana Reeves (1st Vault) were Wildfire’s top three AA scoring Level 7’s. From 130 total Level 7’s competing including all sessions and age groups, Aurora ranked 1st among them leading the way to Wildfire’s 2014 OC Classic Level 7 Team win.
