Wildfire’s third optional team competition of season 2016 was the Glider Invitational held at the Ontario Convention Center beginning February 5th. From this came, three team wins, they being for Levels 7, 8 and 10 with a 2nd ranking for Level 9. At the conclusion of the competition weekend, there was announced a Super Team award, recognizing the top overall team performance utilizing scores from a combination of multiple levels. Involved were 1142 gymnasts representing 52 teams. Of these teams, they traveling to Ontario from just about every region of the country, Wildfire ranked 2nd overall, just behind Legacy Elite of Illinois. Wildfire gymnasts accounted for 13 top three All Around awards, 6 for Gold. There were also 32 Individual Event top 3 award winners, 18 of them Gold Medalists.

There were 162 Level 10 athletes participating as part of the Glider Invitational, in total. Among the top six of that 162 were Wildfire’s Sydney Gonzales and Grace Kramer. Of six age groups in their session of 44 gymnasts, Wildfire Level 10’s won three, adding a 2nd place as well. Congratulations to Level 10 All Around Champions Sydney Gonzales (37.925, 1st Vault - 9.725), Grace Kramer (37.850, 1st Vault - 9.925!!) and Nicoletta Koulos (1st Vault - 9.750, 1st Floor). Our AA Silver medalist, Sanya Glauber won Gold for Bars (9.575). Of note is that Grace Kramer’s Vault score was the second highest score relating to any individual event of the meet, including 1142 athletes.

Of 221 Level 9 gymnasts competing, Wildfire’s Jordyn Duffield ranked 3rd among them, including all sessions and age groups. Jordyn, at fourteen won her All Around competition with a 37.625 while winning Vault (9.550), Floor (9.550) and Beam. Second place to Jordyn was the 14 age division’s AA Silver medalist Juliana Harrison (1st Bars). Totaling a 37.00, AA Bronze medalist, Avery Serna secures Silver for the day on both Bars and Beam (9.500). Congratulations, also, to Chase Ferris for winning All Around, Bars and Floor (9.625). Chase’s Floor score was the highest of that event, ranked number one of 221 Level 9’s competing.

Of 154 Level 8 gymnasts competing, Wildfire’s Jordyn Warner ranked 1st among them, including all sessions and age groups. She did that by posting a 38.075 AA total. As part of the 10 -11 age division, Jordyn won every event in the process, highlighted by the fact that her Bar score was the highest Level 8 Bar score of the competition (9.750). Congratulations to 13 year old Kimi Kishimoto for her All Around win, she also placing 1st on Floor (9.500). Standout Gold medal performances were characteristic of Blakely Malpass (1st Bars - 9.500), Isabelle Hing (1st Bars), Phoebe Ladd (1st Vault) and Morgan Langseth (1st Floor).

Of the total number of 163 Level 7 gymnasts competing, Wildfire’s Emily San Jose and Olivia Roberts were ranked among the top six of that total number of 163. Thirteen year old All Around Champion, Emily San Jose (38.050, 1st Bars - 9.600, 1st Floor - 9.675), 11 year old All Around Champion, Olivia Roberts (37.950, 1st Vault - 9.825!, 1st Floor - 9.600) and 10 year old Avery Byun (1st AA, 1st Vault - 9.550) showed showed sound and consistent efforts on their way to their All Around wins. A strong Gold medal winning performance was featured by 13 year old AA Silver medalist, Julia Patrick (37.700, 1st Vault - 9.850!!). Julia’s Vault score of 9.850 was the high mark of the entire Level 8 competition, including all events, age groups and sessions. Powerful Gold medal results were also noted for Roxy Wright (1st Vault - 9.725, 1st Floor - 9.600).
