During the last weekend of September, Wildfire Gymnastics took its annual compulsory level team travel trip to Las Vegas, competing at the Gymcats Invitational. It was a tidy, well run event involving 224 gymnasts. From it Wildfire finished out with 16 All Around Champions and counting undefeated team results at Levels 3, 4 and 5. The 2014 season stands, so far, at 9 for 9 1st place team championships won. The highest scoring gymnasts of the entire weekend including all levels, age groups and sessions were Wildfire’s Amelia Wagner (level 3) & Avery Byun (level 4) both with a 38.125 AA.

Wildfire’s Team - Level 3, accumulated a team total that reflects an individual event average just short of 9.70. Seventy seven Level 3 gymnasts participated and from this roster Wildfire athletes finished among the top 15. And from this group of top 15 came 13 AA top 3 finishes. Seven of these were presented with All Around Gold. The Level 3 top All Arounder, Amelia Wagner (38.125) also placed 1st on Beam (9.825!!) , and 1st on Floor (9.675). The All Around Champion and AA standout list also includes Ailani Tran (38.075, 1st Bars - 9.575, 1st Beam - 9.7), Addie Anderson (2nd AA - 37.925), Payton Polana (2nd AA - 37.925), All Around Champions all: Tasmyn Dahan (37.850, 1st Vault, 1st Bars - 9.675, 1st Floor), Ashley Pak (37.850, 1st Bars, Beam - 9.650, 1st Floor), Kaitlin Boutros (37.775, 1st Bars, 1st Beam - 9.600), Sophie Mitzumori (1st Vault, Bars) and Mikayla Stover (1st Bars, Floor).

Seventy five gymnasts, in total, participated as Level 4’s this competition and 15 Wildfire gymnasts (all top 3 AA finishers - 5 AA Champions) culminated their experience as part of the top 16. In that process, Wildfire gymnasts posted a 9.600 team average to win the 2014 Gymcats Invitational Level 4 Team Championship. Matching Amelia’s top All Around score of the competition with a 38.125 was Wildfire’s 1st Place Level 4 AA Champion Avery Byun (1st Vault, Bars - 9.65, Beam 9.70, 1st Floor). All Around standouts included AA Champion Brisa Mariano (37.925, 1st Floor - 9.725), Amy Sullivan (37.825, 1st Vault - 9.525, 1st Bars), AA Champion Natalie Rydel (37.70 - 1st Bars - 9.675, 1st Beam - 9.575), All Around Champion Ruby Mach (1st Vault) and Katarina Delgado (1st AA, 1st Vault).

Eight Wildfire Level 5 gymnasts by meet’s end ranked among the top 9, four of them inside the top 5, this producing a team score with a 9.55 individual event scoring average for the win. Leading the Level 5 team effort was the top scoring Level 5 gymnast of the entire meet, Wildfire’s Leah Ellwein at 37.575 (1st Vault - 9.60, 1st Beam). Other AA champions and standout AA performers include Olivia Roberts (1st AA - 37.550, 1st Bars, 1st Beam), Julia Patrick (1st AA, 1st Beam 9.80!!), All Around Champion Jordyn Warner (1st Floor) with AA standouts and runners up Erika Flaherty (1st Vault - 9.80!!, 1st Bars, 1st Floor - 9.625) and Makenzie Stanton (37.425, 1st Bars, 1st Floor 9.60). Notable, was also the Level 5 individual event performances by Karyssa Owens on Vault (9.6) and Beam (9.775!).
