Boise State University served as the site for the Level 9 Western National Championships where 454 gymnasts merged to compete for individual honors and Regional team pride. The USAG J.O. Western National Championships is the defining championships for the Level 9 gymnast as they identify with clubs from states west of the Mississippi River. These clubs are organized into four regions: Regions 1, 2, 3 and 4. SoCal is part of Region 1. Four Wildfire Level 9 gymnasts made the trip to Western Nationals this year. That number ties as the second highest from Southern California teams. Wildfire qualified Level 9 teammates, Lanie Kimura, Tiffany Scott, Juliana Harrison and Avery Serna.

Level 9 Senior 6 Bars Silver Medalist (9.575), Lanie Kimura finished her Western National Championships ranked 4th All Around, that being among 29 fellow Senior 6 qualifiers. Senior 8 Tiffany Scott the 2017 SoCal Level 9 State AA Champion, completed her 2017 competition season placing 5th AA, 4th on Bars (9.525) and 4th on Floor (9.450). Standout performances from Senior 4, Juliana Harrison and Senior 2, Avery Serna accounted for a 7th and 9th place All Around finishes respectively. This stands them in common with Lanie, and Tiffany as they, the four of them collectively, ranked as All Around medalists inside and no less among the top 9 in age group. These age groups, together represent gymnasts from 24 states, and 4 regions comprising what is the USAG J.O. Level 9 Western National Championships.
