Cerise Finishes 6th in the Country at Nationals

Wildfire Gymnastics wishes to congratulate our own Cerise Witherby for a job most respectfully accomplished at the 2009 J.O. Level 10 National Championships this May 16 in Auburn Washington. Just one half tenth short of making the J.O. National team, Cerise's total score of 37.850 ranks her 6th All-Around among the Junior D's and within the top 5 per cent of 454 total athletes participating.

This is Cerise's second appearance at Nationals representing Region 1 (SoCal, NorCal, Arizona, Utah and Nevada). The team competition there involves eight regions nation wide. Of the seven Region 1 Team members, she was one of just two, who's four individual event scores each reflected in the team effort. An interesting note is that during Cerise's previous National experience, she was alone in that distinction.

One result of her commitment and excellent performance is such recognition as to be invited to a training camp at the U.S. National Team Training Center on the Karolyi Ranch in Houston, Texas. The ranch provides accommodation for National Team specialized training and fitness verification. It also the site on which the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team prepared prior to leaving for Beijing.
