Wildfire wishes to thank Gymcats Gymnastics of Las Vegas, NV. for running a most competent compulsory invite, involving Levels 4, 5 and 6. The competition, conducted on the weekend of September 26, was the primary element of a two day Wildfire team trip, which included along with it choice experiences among gymnasts, parents and staff. There was the pool, the kids fun zone and arcade, movie theaters, restaurants, the Mylie Cyrus show, the dueling piano show, adding then for the adults, those pesky games of chance.
The meet itself was a success for the Wildfire family. We entered 46 gymnasts, from which came an accumulated total of 58 Gymcat Invitational Gold, 39 Silver and 37 Bronze medals representing 134 top three finishes. Good fortune was the order, resulting once more, the team title hat trick where here all three Levels 4, 5 and 6 became Invitational champions. By the end, as well, Wildfire athletes faired well enough to achieve for the second time this season, the winning of 11 of the 12 team events contested at a single competition. The twelfth event showed 2nd.
Leading our Level 4's was Caleigh O'Keefe, scoring the highest All Around total of the entire weekend (37.975). She also won, in the process, each of the four individual events. Sydney LaMar provided note worthy support as well, winning three of her four events for a combined total of 37.950 for an All Around gold. In fact, of the six age groups, Wildfire entered five of them and won four.
Aubrey Pritchett was our Level 5 performance leader, winning not only her division All Around, but each of her four individual events. Of note is that Wildfire entered six of the seven Level 5 age divisions and won each of them while finalizing at the same time 24 first place awards.
Katie Watts, our highest scoring Level 6 All Around Champion, and Madalyn Parsons who culminated her 1st Place AA by collecting three individual event golds, guided a fresh Level 6 team to a still undefeated season. Of the five age categories competing, Wildfire gymnasts won two of them while placing 2nd in two more.
Wildfire's next event is the "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend" 3rd Preliminary hosted by AGA of Long Beach, CA on October 10 and 11.
