Third Prelim News

Wildfire's regular competitive season for compulsories has come to an end. The championship phase begins October 24th. Our Level 4 team, after four meets now have won each of them while our 5's and 6's have won three of the four placing, respectively, second once.

The third preliminary competition, the final qualifier to the Sectional Championships, was held in Long Beach on October 11th (See the Wildfire program mentioned as part of a story presented on the Meet Scores Online Home Page).

Team Level 4 won its division keeping their streak alive with a 4 and 0 record. Leading the effort was our Sydney LaMar who is, with her 38.1, still so far undefeated. In that same age group (Ch. 9), and while sweeping the top 4 All Around spots, six Wildfire gymnasts were positioned within the top seven. Highlight assists with the Level 4 team position were teammates Caleigh O'Keefe (Ch. 10 - 11) winning each of her four events for a 37.75 total and Abby Dillard (Ch. 9 - 2nd AA) with a 37.65 (9.75 Beam).

Winning 3 of the four age groups entered and placing second in the fourth, the Level 5's won their division as well. Calyx Hampton, finishing first on three events was by days end Wildfire's leading Team 5 AA scorer accumulating a 9.4375 average for a 37.750 total. In her age group, and following Calyx' All Around 1st, were six Wildfire athletes ranking 2nd through to 7th AA. Additional Wildfire All Around Champions this meet include Alannah Lindsay and Nicole Katzaroff.

Madalyn Parsons, last weekend, led Wildfire's Level 6 Team to a second place finish among the seven teams competing. Eleven gymnasts were entered in three separate age groups. Five of the girls placed inside the the top eight All Around (Jr. 11 - 12) with Madison Pinkard ranking highest at second. Sarah Byron winning Vault and Beam also placed second AA in her group that being Sr. 13 +. Wildfire Team Level 6 collected 5 gold medals in Long Beach, second place in number only by one.

Next event: Western Sectionals in Torrance, CA on the October 24th weekend. This meet serves as the Southern California State qualifier.
